Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn is reportedly on the transfer shortlist at Manchester United ahead of this summer’s transfer window. The presence of the Scotland international on the United transfer shortlist for this summer was revealed by the report from the stables of The Telegraph.
Darren Fletcher is not the only one keen to see compatriot McGinn in a Manchester United shirt. Legendary Manchester United manager and current club director Sir Alex Ferguson is also a big fan of the Aston Villa midfielder.
Aston Villa see McGinn as one of the key players in their team and a summer transfer to Manchester United is not a certainty even if the Red Devils step up their interest in him. However, the chance to sign the midfielder could open up for the Red Devils if he’s unable to agree a new contract with Villa.
McGinn was under consideration for a transfer last summer at Manchester United, but they were focused on priority positions as they signed the trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho. Portugal international star Ronaldo signed for Manchester United after leaving Juventus, while French defender Varane joined from Real Madrid. On his part, England international winger Sancho left German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund to sign for Manchester United.
Apart from McGinn, the likes of Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund, Declan Rice of West Ham United and AmadouHaidara of RB Leipzig are also on the midfield transfer shortlist at Manchester United.
