Everton midfielder Darren Fletcher believes that Wayne Rooney has made the best decision by signing for his boyhood club.
He said that Rooney is a terrific player and that he will be a major asset for Everton this season.
Wayne Rooney has rejoined Everton after 13 years spent at Manchester United. Indeed the England international was becoming increasingly frustrated about a lack of playing time at Old Trafford and fell that it was the right moment for him to experience a chance of team.
Darren Fletcher who now plays for Stoke City played against Wayne Rooney in the first game of the season and said that he was impressed by the performance of his former Manchester United teammate. He believes that Wayne Rooney is at a stage of his career where he wants to get as many games as possible and he feels that moving back to Everton was the best thing he could do.
He said that there were obviously many clubs that were interested in the England international and he feels that there is nothing compared to playing for your boyhood club.
Darren Fletcher said that Everton has built a competitive team and that they will be difficult to play against. He stated that they have experience and skills all around the pitch and that if they click they could be a serious contender for a European place.
The former Manchester United midfielder said that he is happy at Stoke City and that they have a good team at the moment. He said that they were disappointed not to come out of the Everton game with at least a point and that now they will have to focus on the next game.
He believes that it will be a tough game against Arsenal, but they will have to fight in order to win the game.
