MANCHESTER UNITED CLOSING IN ON TRANSFER

Manchester United are said to be closing in on a transfer for Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes according to reports from England. Fernandes had been linked with a move to the EPL outfit in the past two months and a move is about to come to fruition.

It is thought that the cause of the delay is due to Sporting Lisbon insistence on £70 million as the transfer fee. Manchester United have already agreed personal terms with the player with only the transfer fee blocking the deal.

It is understood that Ed Woodward United chief is working hard to complete this move before the end of the week. The delay in completing this transfer further indicates why Manchester United should have a director of football.

There had been reports that the club was considering a number of candidates for the position. former players Rio Ferdinand and Darren Fletcher were mentioned. Former Leicester director of football Steve Walsh has also been touted for the position.

However, United have yet to make any major announcements regarding the position and this has left the club hanging in the limbo regarding recent transfers.  So far United have been able to sign only Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka two players that were not necessarily on the radar of other top clubs.

Key targets such as KalidouKoulibaly of Napoli and Harry Maguire have not signed for the club with less than a month left to the beginning of the season. United fans would be hoping that the club is able to secure the signing of Bruno Fernandes.

Rivals Liverpool are thought o be preparing a late swoop for the player which would be a huge blow for United. The next few days would reveal where the club lies in regards to the transfer of the Portuguese international.
