Darren Fletcher has signed a new deal at Manchester United. But boss Sir Alex Ferguson wants to bring him in line with the club’s other top earners and is offering a package worth around £80,000 a week.

Fletcher joined United as a trainee 10 years ago and has gone on to win three Premier League titles since making his first-team debut in 2003 in a Champions League clash with Basle.

He also replaced Rangers Barry Ferguson as Scotland captain in 2009 and has 53 caps to his name.
